I created these Weekly Reading Snapshots last year to send home with my 2nd-grade students. They have been a great resource for families. All the reading content we are working on is contained on one page; spelling words, vocabulary words, sight words, and the decodable readers for the week. The resource aligns with HMH Journeys 2017 ELA reading curriculum and includes all 30 lessons.
I’ve got you covered for the whole school year!
This resource is easy to prep! Just print on colored paper and pop in student mailboxes or take home folders. I use Astrobrights paper to print out the Weekly Reading Snapshots. Who doesn’t love having a pop of color in a student take home folder?! Those bright colors make me so happy, especially in February in Montana!

This resource includes 30 Weekly Snapshots aligned to the HMH Journeys reading program AND… wait for it…
– an EDITABLE PowerPoint file for you to customize!
Every Monday, I also send the file digitally to parents using the Remind app. This makes it easy to study in the car or just in case the snapshot doesn’t make it home… but that never happens, right? Families have told me how much easier it makes their lives having a digital copy of the resource. Not only do families have everything on one page, but they also have it on their phone. Each Monday I would just snap a photo using my phone, open the Remind app, and send it out. Easy peasy.
I hope you find this resource useful, I know it has made my life so much easier and organized!
Enjoy,
