Each school year, I invite my former students for a lunch date with me in our classroom. It was a bit late this year and I kept getting asked on the playground when they were going to come up to have lunch with me. We finally set a date for this past Tuesday. It was so wonderful to see them all together again and hard to believe that yet another year is almost past and they will be in fourth grade!
We chatted, caught up, shared favorite memories of second grade and gave and received lots of hugs.
It was such a fun way to maintain those relationships you work so hard to build with your students. Do you have a tradition like this that passes on from year to year?
Each year I use these invitations and have added them to my TpT store, which you can find here. There is both an editable file and a file that you can print out and handwrite your notes. The “Where” and “When” fields autofill to save you time. I printed mine on cardstock and popped them in the mailboxes of the current year teachers.
I would love to hear how you stay in touch with your students.
Enjoy!
