These Spelling Sheets were created as lined writing paper templates to meet all the aspects of our Spelling needs. Included are sheets for Spelling Pretests, Spelling Study Sheets, and Spelling Tests/Assessments.
The files are numbered for 12 spelling words, 2 review words, and 2 challenge words. If you have your students use a number, there are sheets with spaces to supply that information.
Now, I don’t know about you, but the lined brown paper that seems to be a standard in elementary schools makes me crazy! It tears so easy and is to me like the sensation of fingernails on a chalkboard. Am I alone here?
The spelling segment has 3 sections, a pretest for 12 words, a word study list, and a weekly assessment.
Using all that brown lined paper was making me nuts so I created these sheets for students to work with during the week.
First, Monday begins with a pretest on the 12 words. If students pass, they move on to a different list which focuses on a different spelling rule. The Pretest is sent home with our Weekly Reading Snapshot which covers all our words for the week. If you want to know more about the Snapshots, you can read about it here in this post.
After the Spelling Pretest, students copy them down on the Spelling Words Study Sheet to take home.
Finally, on Friday, we take our weekly assessment on the Spelling Test Sheet. No. More. Brown. Lined. Paper. If you want to check out this resource, you can find it in my Teachers Pay Teachers store. I would love to hear how these work for you in your classroom!
